#55 Console Lap Steel

This special commission came from an unexpected side. I recieved a well written email from rock/metal formation Red Mourning, inquiring about a double lap steel in a dark color. The instrument should be able to be played in lower tunings and it would be nice if the instrument would be angled foreward so the audiance would be able to see the instrument in a good way. The instrument is designed as a double neck table (console). As far as I know it is the only lap steel fitted with active EMG pickups. The heads with tuners are sunken in the wood and can be screwed off for maintenance. To fit the lower tunings, both lap steel parts have a 650mm scale.

The lap steel is still being used live, without legs, laying on a flightcase.
