The search for a suitable piece of oakwood for this Weissenborn ended when I found a fantastic piece of Japanese white oak in Amsterdam. This was special material to work with because of our Japanese-Dutch family. Also, the customer was enthousiastic because of his love for Japanese art and culture.
The Weissenborn is build as a Style 3 and is finished with wood oil. This Weissenborn is intended for lower tunings.
By request, a Japanese text is engraved into the soundhole. The text is found and written by my son, and it is his actual handwriting you see. Th written text is photographed, digitaly edited and with CNC engraved in the wood. The text means freely translated "wood and sound make music".
